This Week's Show

On this week's show we're joined by Darkubus Rybar to talk about Ridley Scott's new alien sci-fi movie Prometheus. We'll also discuss the DVD for the found footage party movie Project X and we'll take some time to talk about the Season 2 premiere of Falling Skies. All this and we'll take some time to talk about our time at the anime convention AM2.

We'll also tell you all about our adventures at the 1st ever Comikaze Expo in downtown L.A.,  while we're coming off our 3D contact high from A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas.
Plus we have a review of the recently released 3-in-1 Deluxe collector's edition of CLAMP's hit manga X (volume 1 out this week) . 3-D Movies: What was shot in 3-D (and not a Conversion)

We've talked a lot on the show about movies shot in 3-D versus those that are converted from 2-D, so here's a list of some of the live action movies that were actually shot in 3-D. While this doesn't mean that the movie will necessarily be good it does mean that if you're going to see it anyway you may as well pay the extra money for the true 3-D experience!

I'm Turning 3D, I Think I'm Turning 3D I Really Think So!!

It's getting all 3D up in here.

Men in Black 3D:

Showbiz 411's Roger Friedman reports he talked to director Barry Sonnenfeld, who revealed that Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are returning as agents J and K, respectively, in Sony's Men in Black 3D (yes, in 3D).

The Green Hornet:

 Sony Pictures comedy "The Green Hornet" has been delayed again from a Christmas to a January 14th 2011 release reports Heat Vision.

The reason though is to allow 'Hornet' to undergo a 3D conversion. The extra time will apparently allow the production to "produce all of its visual effects shots in original 3D" and also five the studio a weekend frame with sufficient screens to release the film wide in 3D.

The Last Airbender:

On the same day Sony decided to convert the Seth Rogen action-comedy The Green Hornet to 3D, Paramount has decided to do the same thing with M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender, except that they have no plans to move it off its July 2 release date.

According to Variety, Paramount has been working for over a year testing the 3D conversion process with Stereo D, who also worked on Avatar, and three months ago, they showed Shyamalan some converted footage and he agreed to convert the full movie to 3D.

When all else fails, and we are at our last stand against 3D conversion, we can always count on Chris Nolan

Cinematical got a chance to speak to Batman Begins and The Dark Knight director of photography Wally Pfister, who said that there's a good chance the next Batman film won't be released in 3D . A full IMAX release is possible, however.

"What Chris and I have talked about is doing something cool and something interesting," Pfister said. "[Director] Brad Bird was [saying] 'you've got to shoot the whole thing in IMAX!' I was like, yeah, I've talked to Chris about that."

Resident Evil: Afterlife Teaser!!!!!!

Resident Evil: Afterlife is one of our most anticipated (actual) 3D movies. Hopefully everyone feeling screwed after Clash of the Titans won't write this one off cause it looks BOSS!!!! The Executioner and Wesker look totally awesome, but my favorite part is the card at the beginning that clarifies that this movie was shot with the 3D Fusion Camera's James Cameron and Vince Pace created for Avatar. Good for Sony for making sure people realize there's a difference between Avatar technology and paying a company $5 million to slap together a terrible 3D print of a 2D movie!

BTW, Ali Larter in slow-motion in the rain...Thank you very much Mr. Anderson!!!!
