Hollywood Gears Up For All Out Robo-War With Japan!!!

After the success of The Hurt Locker, Hollywood is greenlighting a slew of films about the newest hot button issue in foreign warfare, Killer Machines:

Hugh Jackman  is starring in Real Steel playing "an ex-fighter who becomes a promoter when human boxing is outlawed for being too violent. The new gladiators are 2,000-pound robots with human qualities. His access to sub-standard robot parts hampers his hopes for glory in Robot Boxing, until he discovers a discarded robot that always seems to win." (Dark Horizons)

Diary of a Wimpy Kid's Nina Jacobson is developing "The Dominion, a sci-fi thriller which centers on a human who is chosen to command an army's first-ever platoon of robotic soldiers."
"It's a great really interesting subject matter," she told us. "It's been very educational for me actually to learn all about military robotics. My writer's actually about to turn the script in to the studio in the next couple of days and hopefully we'll start looking for directors soon." (Coming Soon)

It seems clear that this is a response to the first strike robot offensive Japan initiated this year with the Prius (Perpetually Rolling Incarceration Unit Soldier) and the recent discovery of the sleeper cell Honda killing machines, the 2007/2008 Odyssey and Element (We all know about Honda's previous Robotic mercenary Asimo (Autonimous Soldier Instructing Mechanical Overlords)). Whether or not we stand a chance in this coming "Robopocalypse" purely rests on the shoulders of Artificial Intelligence expert Steven Spielberg and strategist Daniel H. Wilson, whose work in progress is a battle plan against the impending Robot Invasion.

"The latest title gaining steam among speculators is Robopocalypse, now that Cloverfield screenwriter Drew Goddard has been hired to adapt the Daniel H Wilson epic about the human race's attempt to survive an apocalyptic robot uprising. Wilson hasn't finished the book yet, but word is Goddard has gotten underway and that it's a serious candidate." (Deadline.com)

Steven Spielberg will be leading mankind against this uprising once he gets the battle plan from Wilson and Goddard, since former cybernetics expert James Cameron is unavailable due to his changing vocation and his current work on a way to defend alien planets against human invasion.

Seen Around LA

NO_DRUGS

It's to be noted that we also have no drugs, no money, and we are not a medical marijuana dispensary. However we do have every episode of Dragon Ball Z and a makeup compact once used by William Shatner, so... that's gotta count for something right?

THINGS WE LEARNED FROM THE 82ND OSCARS

hamburglar

We talked about the Oscars on today's show, but there were a few things we didn't get to mention, so here are some of the things we learned from watching this years Oscars:

Sam Worthington replaces Russell Crowe as Grumpy Australian guy
When Steve Martin maced the digital forest spirits from Avatar, causing them to die, the show cut to Sam Worthington sitting there with a look on his face that seemed to say "I am not amused!"

Macaulay Culkin is kinda creepy
During the John Hughes "in memoriam" segment, they cut to Macaulay Culkin delivering a Hughes story with such creepy penache and odd akward pauses, it makes me wonder if he's used to petting a cat while trying to dismember British Secret Agents with a laser.

Ben Stiller wants you to know he has Supreme Geek Cred.
While dressed as Weird-Kid-in-Class Smurf, Stiller lamented that instead of wearing Na'vi makeup he should have worn his "2 pairs of Spock ears from the original series... signed by Leonard Nimoy!" Then, to make sure he wouldn't be seen as the geeky guy by all his cool movie star peers, he said he decided it would have been "too nerdy."

What Precious is Actually About
Like a lot of people we didn't see Precious, and didn't really know too much about it before the show. Luckily, thanks to the clip for the movie that the Oscars played for the Best Adapted Screenplay award, we now realize that Precious is about a Chicken Bucket Thief! Once we noticed this, like anyone we just assumed it was some sort of origin movie for the Hamburgler, perhaps the alternate title was Precious: Rise of the Hamburgler? Other clips of the film were shown later which, though moving, seemed like a typical Hollywood departure from the original Hamburgler source material.

Violence Good, Texting Bad
We were pretty surprised how much violence was showcased during this years Oscars, between the gore in the Horror montage (they actually showed Kathy Bates breaking James Caan's leg with a sledgehammer in Misery!!!!) and in the other segments (like Hugo from Inglorious Basterds shooting a Nazi in the junk with blood flying everywhere!!!) the Academy seemed rather bloodthirsty. Luckily the Academy did have it's moral limits and when the team from The Cove came up to receive their Best Documentary Oscar, the show quickly started the music and cut away before any children watching could be bombared with graphic images of senseless texting!

Virtually No One Applauded at Micheal Jackson during the "In Memoriam" Montage
Yeah...

 Helen Mirren Has a Tatoo!
Thanks to Michael Sheen we all found out Helen Mirren has a Spiderweb tatoo on her hand! Very cool, but doesn't each layer of webbing represent a vato she iced? At least that's what prison movies taught us!

WOW, WE LEARNED A LOT THIS OSCARS!!!!!!

Spicoli Steals the Show at the OSCARS!!!!!!!!

spicoli

It was a great night at the Oscars, The Dude won his first Academy Award, Kathryn "Point Break" Bigelow was the first woman to ever win a Best Director Oscar (WHOA!!!), and Sandra "Speed" Bullock won her first award as Best Actress (WHOA!!! again), then totally raved about her sexy Bound-like friendship with Meryl "too awesome for a nickname" Streep.

With all the surprises and groundbreaking moments at the 82nd Academy Awards there was one special thespian who stole the show, this actor was brave enough to take the stage as one of his most beloved characters. Sean Penn, last year's Best Actor winner, presented the award for Best Actress as Jeff Spicoli, his breakout role from 1982's Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Somewhere between a modern day Brando and Andy Kaufman, his method approach was admirable-

"I never became an official memory of the Academy, but the Academy and I do have in common that we managed to n-n-n-n-n-neglect to acknowledge the same actress in our own ways nnn... 2 years running, so I...I...I... um...gonna start fresh with the Academy and and uh acknowledge these wonderful actresses, uh here are the nominees..."

I must say Mr. Penn's dedication to his craft is very Daniel Day Lewis-ian!

According to Geekin's sources, when giving Sandra Bullock her statue Penn said "Aloha, Mr. Hand!" and high fived the first time winner. He then went backstage where the pizza he ordered had just arrived.

UPDATE: The backstage scoop may be incorrect. We have just learned that Geekin's sources may have been a surfboard and a bus on the 405.
